Our 3-Step Guide to Dealing with Cyber Crime in Pakistan

Below is our 3 Step Guide on how to deal with Cybercrime in Pakistan. This is something that you can do yourself, although we would recommend you get legal advice first.

Step 1- Report it!

There you need to record as much information as possible (including evidence such as Screenshots, weblinks, SMS messages, etc) and list it in a report, in chronological order. This will make the investigation process easier.

Names, locations, and details of the incident, ensure to record every aspect possible (at the same time, try to ensure it’s not a novel! Keep it short and simple, highlighting the criminal aspects).

Step 2 – Submit it to all relevant Departments

Once you have drafted a report, submit it to all relevant departments (i.e. Submit a Report to The Federal Investigation Authority, Submit an Application to The Police, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, etc).

When submitting reports and applications, it is key to note down the dates of the report submitted with either a receipt slip or a diary room number.

Step 3 – Follow up and Prosecute!

Simply submitting a report online doesn’t mean that your job is over. It is vital to take regular updates on how far your application has progressed. If you ever feel that your matter is not being taken seriously then complain either to the same apartment (to Senior Level) or to the Wafaqi Mohtasib.
